Mission statement - proposed

The Glen Ellen Forum is working on

  • Building a stronger community for the benefit of us all.
  • Working together from a positive frame of mind on common goals.
  • Valuing all our experiences, with a shared sense of civic discourse and respect of participants.
  • Carrying out all of our work with elements of tolerance, co-operation, compromise, diversity, preservation and inclusiveness.

There is always more that brings us together than what divides us. We are all volunteers.

Information Policy

  • We strive to inform you, the public, about all that is going on in our community.
  • The Forum does not necessarily endorse all that is posted on our website, monthly newsletter and Facebook page.

SAVE THE DATE / COMING UP

We have partnered once again with Valley of the Moon Winery for a holiday free meal!

Join us SUNDAY, DEC 9th, from 1 to 4 p.m. for our Second Annual Community Day! Come celebrate the strength and resilience of our community. Gather and connect over good food, great wine, live music and local holiday vendors.

This is event is SOLD OUT. If you haven't already made your reservations and obtained your dinner ticket, you can come and enjoy the music and wine, however, you will not be able to attend the dinner.

Interested in volunteering? We need four people to help with Parking. It goes so much faster and easier with extra hands on deck. Please contact the Engagement Committee at forum@glenellen.org or call 707-935-9163.

Funding for this Free Community Meal was made possible by the United of the Wine Country's 2018 Wildfire Recovery Neighborhood Grants Program.

Also keep an eye on our Events page and also the Forum's Facebook page.

READY GLEN ELLEN

The Ready Glen Ellen Emergency Plan was created by the Glen Ellen Forum Traffic and Safety Committee and other members of the Glen Ellen community. We encourage all residents, businesses and employees of Glen Ellen to have an emergency plan and hope this document helps you.

SDC Transition

UNITED WAY OF THE WINE COUNTRY

Our neighborhood was selected as one of the recipients of the Sonoma County Wildfire Recovery & Resilience Neighborhood Grants Program. We were awarded $12,500!

We were funded $10,000 for backflow devices $3,000 and small storage sheds $7,000. [The balance of $2,500 will be divided between the Traffic & Safety Committee for ReadyGlenEllen supplies ($1,000), and a Community Free Meal SUN 12/9 ($1,500).]

The funds will purchase a limited number of devices and sheds. We will collect and verify all applications, and enter them into a lottery to be drawn 12/10/18. Those selected will be notified once funding has been received (we anticipate it will be in December).

WHO SHOULD APPLY? If you lost your home in the October 2017 wildfires, please complete THIS FORM indicating you are interested in either the backflow device or the storage shed.

GOT HOUSING? NEED HOUSING?

Please visit Facebook's Keep Them In Sonoma Valley - Homes For Fire Victims set up by Glen Ellen's Ed Davis. Ed is keeping a running inventory of housing needs and availability in Sonoma Valley!

Another Opportunity to Help

A growing number of Sonoma County residents, especially older adults are without a home. Thanks to the ongoing efforts of SHARE (Shared Housing and Resource Exchange) living arrangements are being made between two or more unrelated people, who agree to share a home or apartment for their mutual benefit. As part of SHAREfire, SHARE has broadened their scope to allow for all kinds of housing. Whether you can provide a home, are seeking a home, or interested in making a donation, for more information email them at info@sharefire.org.
