Proposed Bikeway Project for Eldridge and Glen EllenOur community has an outstanding opportunity to establish a bikeway between Glen Ellen and Eldridge. Running more than four miles north from Madrone Road, the bikeway will link residential neighborhoods to downtown Glen Ellen, Dunbar Elementary School, the former Sonoma Developmental Center, and two regional parks. Essential elements of a Glen Ellen - Eldridge bikeway are already in place. According to Arthur Dawson, who has been leading the effort, "The bikeway will give everyone a chance to get out of their cars, reduce emissions, improve their health and strengthen ties within our community." Arthur will be presenting details and next steps during the September monthly Glen Ellen Forum meeting. |
Eldridge - Trespassing WarningThe authorities at Eldridge, the former site of the now closed Sonoma Developmental Center sent an open letter to the community. They would like to remind everyone that although the site remains open for pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles in non-restricted areas, individuals are prohibited from accessing both reservoirs (for fishing or swimming), areas affected by the recent fires, and all vacant buildings and parking lots. For everyone's safety, these closed areas are clearly marked. Entering closed areas is considered trespassing. If voluntary compliance is not successful, officers will take the appropriate enforcement action to curtail trespassing. If you’d like to stay informed on the progress of the planning process for the future of Eldridge or learn how to get involved, you can check current status and sign up for email updates here. |
